How HydraSafe Brake Works
HydraSafe Brake is a rail-mounted braking product. Its application depends on the elevator configuration, required protection function, governing code, and the acceptance process set by the local Authority Having Jurisdiction.

Confirm the required function
Start with the equipment record and applicable code. Unintended Car Movement and Ascending Car Overspeed are separate functions with different requirements and test criteria.
Apply braking force at the guide rail
The brake is mounted at the guide rail and applies force directly to the rail. It is outside the elevator machine brake assembly.
Complete the project acceptance path
The installation must be evaluated under the project’s test plan. Inspection, documentation, corrections, and AHJ acceptance determine when the elevator may return to service.
What to evaluate in a rail-mounted approach
A product selection should be based on the actual equipment and project scope. Review the device configuration, rail and mounting arrangement, control interfaces, technical documentation, test conditions, and local acceptance requirements.
Machine brake separation
The brake engages the guide rail rather than modifying the elevator machine brake assembly.
Defined installation scope
Physical rail mounting is typically completed within six hours inside a permitted project. That estimate does not include permitting, testing, inspection, or acceptance.
Documentation for review
Request current technical documentation for the proposed configuration, rated load, rated speed, and applicable review scope.
Jurisdiction-specific acceptance
A manufacturer document supports a review. The AHJ determines the acceptance requirements for the specific installation.
